Happy hump day!

Its been quite a long week for me! I have officially registered all parts of my business with the state! YAY! It is now a fully functioning business! But that is not why I am posting today. I wanted to talk about my recent failure and how much fun it was!

Like my claw hand??

This project was the BEST CRAZIEST idea I have had yet! (I am still young soooo)

What is it?

Well here is the story.....

I am an online shopper. I love looking at used furniture espeically if it is cheap or free! This queen-sized headboard and footboard were free! and they are gorgeous! We had to drive an hour away to go pick it up. Worth it

On our way home I was thinking "what magnificent way am I going to use this?" Because here is the thing, I live in a small house. The "master bedroom" isn't so masterful... Its the same size as a room I had when I was a kid. So keeping this and using it for its intended purpose wasn't an option. And honestly, I got it for FREE! Why would I paint it and sell it as is when I can turn it into something awesome! IDEA STRUCK!

We don't have a proper bed for guests (cause of the small house issue) I didn't want our third bedroom to become unusable with a gigantic bed taking up the entire space. So I thought "what if I turned this into the coolest pull-out bed ever???! YAAAASS. So I started designing and measuring and all that fun stuff. We figured out that we needed to have the headboard removable to get it in and out of the house, which meant that the base needed a strong frame to keep it intact when moving. I had to order special screws cause the length I needed was not sold in any hardware store. Then we designed the frame and put it all together. Welllllllllllll

When we tried to pull the bed out we realized it was too far off the ground and the legs of the bed would need a block of some kind to rest the legs on so it would be level. Ok, no big deal. BUUUT, when we tried to fold it back up the hinges, was having issues. There wasn't enough room for them to fold properly!!! ugh... So we did some maneuvering and got it back folded... Well, I wanted to see if maybe it was just having a hard time due to it not being anchored down for some time. Guess what happened... GUESS WHAT FREAKIN HAPPENED!!! The headboard came off its screws and the frame of the bed broke......

I looked at my husband... he looked at me... I smiled and said "wanna scrap this thing?" and that is when we labeled this as a fail. Could we have kept tinkering and gotten it to work? Yes! would it be worth it in the end? NOPE. It would have taken too much time and thus defeated the purpose of making this. Is it a complete loss? NOOO because learning from your mistakes is the best way to improve! I am so thankful my husband went along with my crazy idea for as long as he did. Will I try this again? Probably. Because it's completely doable and I just needed to put more time into it to make it work.

Moral of the story:

Don't stop yourself before you even begin. Go ahead and follow through on those crazy ideas cause you never know if it might work.

Here is some pics from the process.

Picking it up!!!

Before we mounted it we wanted to make sure we had enough room
The idea come to life!
